Which AR15 to Buy CAR, M4 (type), or Midlength?

I am going to get a 16" barrell, but I am not sure which one of the three is the better option. Is there a big weight difference between the M4 and the CAR lightweight barrel? Is there a huge recoil difference between the M4/CAR and midlength handguards?
