Is it true that Target is a French owned company?

I read a blog on a local news website that Target is a French based company. This blog went on to state that Target refuses to support any charitable activities that the U.S. military does (like toys for tots, eliminating insurance for employees who are called for active duty, etc.). I always thought that a company has a right to chose what kind of stuff to support, but is it true that they can eliminate an employee's benefits if they are a member of the U.S. military? Wouldn't that be breaking some kind of law in this country? I just want to know if what this blog is true or not.
